        It involves creating audio, video, websites, social media(WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, etc.), and their applications using the Internet and various electronic gadgets( computers, smartphones, digital cameras). These electronic gadgets can help design and transmit/receive digital media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Twitter. 

        Today, digital media takes on many forms, from software and digital imaging to audio and video, video games, webpages, websites, social media platforms, and digital databases. Its primary purpose is to disseminate information and actively engage with a broad audience, fostering interaction and feedback.

IMPORTANCE AND ROLE OF DIGITAL MEDIA:

TYPES OF DIGITAL MEDIA:

There are three main types of digital media,

1- Owned Media
2- Paid media
3- Earned media

Each plays a role in managing a brand's perceptions and customer interactions.

Owned Media:- It refers to the digital assets that you control and own. These are your online properties, where you have complete control over the content and messaging. These include your site, blog/vlog, emails, newsletters, and social media profiles. It is where you can showcase your brand's personality, values, and offerings without external interference. As you own it, you can tailor the content precisely to your audience's preferences, enhancing your brand's credibility.
 
Paid Media:- involves paying to promote your content or brand on external platforms. This includes digital ads, sponsored content, and pay-per-click campaigns. Paid media is an effective way to reach a broader audience and drive people/traffic to your owned media. This Media is more critical when you need to ramp up your visibility fast on digital media. In this media, you can ensure your message spreads widely to people at the right time by targeting specific demographics, interests, and behaviors/attitudes. For example, you are going to introduce new products into the market or enter uncharted territories to enhance brand recognition.

Earned Media:- is used for exposure when a brand gains through word of mouth, mentions, shares, and reviews. Unlike owned and paid media, you don't control earned media, making it one of the most trusted types of digital media, like press coverage, social media shares, customer reviews, and influencer endorsements. Earned media is far more powerful as it comes from third parties, making it more credible than owned and paid media. It increases your brand's worth and reputation as customers share positive reviews or an influencer endorses your brand. Earned media results from the effective use of owned and paid media strategies. As you can control earned media, you can influence it by delivering exceptional products/content or services and engaging with your audience.
